Moderat - the collaboration between
Sascha Ring aka
Apparat, and
Gernot Bronsert and
Sebastian Szary from
Modeselektor - make a bleeding-edge form of dance-orientated electronica that I have only recently come to acknowledge and appreciate. Whilst familiar with Apparat, Modeselektor were new to me.
I picked up
Moderat's album -
"II" - for £1 on Sunday and have been enjoying their big bouncy synths, deep bass, hypnotic percussion, skittering rhythms and delightful vocals ever since.
I can see where
Thom Yorke got some inspiration for his solo work, this is a heady combination of style and substance that has me wanting more.
