funny just read about this idea in Sampson and the Pirate Monks.
He suggests that just like kids will often develop multiple-personalities to deal with issues in their life - we do it as adults all through our life.
We have Church Jonathan, Work Jonathan, Husband Jonathan, Alone Jonathan, etc. etc. etc.
We hide behind these multiple personalities trying to be something we're not -- when we're really aching for our true personality to come alive and be loved and accepted.
Thanks JD... I used to be like that but, thanks to this blog and the rise in social media, I have become more conscious of it... and try to represent "the whole of me".
I think this is the nub of authenticity... we need to say what we do and do what we say - we need to be the person we are, not the person we portray.
I think the church needs to listen to folks like "NametagScott". Top-down and bottom-up... people need to be authentic followers of Jesus... and not pretenders.
If we did... if we took Jesus' message seriously then we would be heard.
