"If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother."1 John 4: 20-21 (New International Version)
I'm sending out my support [for what its worth] to Andrew Jones aka Tall Skinny Kiwi who has been getting some grief from some fundies over comments he made regarding the Reformation. I'm not going to go into the details... because I'm a theological simpleton and not really versed or qualified to talk on these things.
What worries me, however, is the way the fundies are picking on the emergent folks and really hating on them.
I am sick and tired of division. I know, from living in the West of Scotland, how prevalent the disease of Sectarianism is. People continue to die because of it. We need to reconcile and come together... the whole body of Christ... and focus on what we have in common rather than solely picking on the areas that divide us.
Good folk are hating good folk... and all the time... the one we should be hating is laughing his backside off. Read the verse above... how can we say... in all honesty... that we love God when we don't love our own brother or sister? Nonsense. United we stand... anyone?
Anyway... support Andrew on this. His grace in the midst of the conflict is inspirational.

Thomas, I agree 100%, send Christian love to Andrew and stand with both of you.
I may not agree with someone but I will listen to him/ her and attempt to show Christ's love in every situation. How arrogant would I be to consider I was the only one to be right. If I disagree, let me do it with God's grace.
thanks - i FEEEEEELLLL that love!!!!
Amen, brother. It is hardest to love those who SHOULD know better and are filled with spite instead. But we are called to love them, too. The fundies, the lefties, the righties, the liberals....everybody. Everybody everywhere. It's a tough calling!
