I can't stand your religious meetings.Amos 5:21-24 (The Message)
I'm fed up with your conferences and conventions.
I want nothing to do with your religion projects, your pretentious slogans and goals.
I'm sick of your fund-raising schemes, your public relations and image making.
I've had all I can take of your noisy ego-music.
When was the last time you sang to me?
Do you know what I want?
I want justice — oceans of it.
I want fairness — rivers of it.
That's what I want. That's all I want.
God wants us to look outwards... look to the poor... the needy... the broken : physically...mentally...spiritually... He wants justice and compassion and mercy.
When you consider the voices of Christianity in our world... are they... are we speaking out for justice? for fairness?
Or is all that is heard is condemnation? hatred?
When you consider the money poured into churches... and then think about what is given from the church... its embarrassing.
My man, Pernell has a fab quote on his blog that has me thinking...
"We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give."The more we think inwardly and selfishly about ourselves... the more we lose our very being... the very essence of who we are in Jesus. Church shouldn't be about making a living... but having... giving... life - in all its vibrancy and messy clarity.
Think about it.

A great and very challenging post, Thomas! i have been really challenged on this lately. I have been hyper critical of evangelicals when i need to take the plank out of my own eye. My health has made this very difficult for me. GOD, have mercy on me and help me to look outward and upward to you! Adele/EP
