My wee baby :: Dayna :: was enrolled as a junior soldier at the Bellshill Salvation Army today... and what a day to have her enrolled!Pentecost... when God's spirit came to the early church...
Olly and Laura sang a stripped down acoustic guitar version of "Here I am to worship" which brought us into a beautiful contemplative time of prayer.
Dayna then read her junior soldier promise ::
Having asked God for forgiveness, I will be his loving and obedient child. Because Jesus is my Saviour from sin, I will trust Him to keep me good, and will try to help others to follow Him. I promise to pray, to read my Bible and, by His help, to lead a life that is clean in thought, word and deed.and then sang a song to describe how she felt ::
I'm special because God has loved me, for he gave the best thing that he had to save me. His own son, Jesus, crucified to take the blame for all the bad things I have done.She would have brought tears to a glass eye! Truly beautiful!
Thank you Jesus, Thank you Lord for loving me so much, I know I don't deserve anything. Let me feel your love right now to deep in my heart that I'm your special friend.
Alec then spoke about pentecost... He asked the question :: what is the best bit of a sermon? Not the end... or the delivery... but the preparation and the aftermath. He highlighted the fact that the disciples pretty much locked themselves away between the time Jesus left them and when the Holy Spirit arrived... and then when the Spirit came upon them >> the results were amazing... 3,000 people with changed lives... a movement of change that is still helping to change lives to this day.
We then had the immediate family round for a buffet... The weather was lovely... Warm and still...

You won't believe how sorry I was to have missed Dayna's big day, but she is a credit to her family.

Thanks for allowing us to share the double celebration.
It was a moving service - I had real tears and thanked God not only for Dayna's commitment but also for the part you all played in it.
We pray that not only Dayna but Miriam also will grow to be women of and for God.
