It is so jaunty and upbeat... without the losing their vibe. Jose Gonzales and Sia are on most of the tracks with only 2 of the 12 tracks instrumental.
I love ((veneer)) but find Jose's work with Zero 7 to have an added dimension. He's great with the ol' acoustic guitar but finds expression with Zero 7's soundscapes and pretty little ditties.
Sia is like the 3rd member of the band - kind of like Horace Andy for Massive Attack - and the album wouldn't be as good without her. I especially love This Fine Social Scene off the album... its special.
Brave to take a different path... and ultimately rewarding. This is a great record that sits nicely on the iPod with their previous work.
