Future or Fad?

Got a fab comment today from my Flickr buddy and fellow follower of Jesus - Jake Bouma - in which he points to an article by Scott McKnight on the emerging church movement that I am engrossed in, at the moment. The article Future or Fad? is a good assessment of the movement and one that I heartly recommend to anyone interested...(Its a .pdf link so it might take a wee while). Here's a quote:

The EM [emerging movement] is a post-evangelical group of young Christians who are doing what they can to get the church back in line with the kingdom vision of Jesus. My suggestion is that we listen and learn what the Spirit is saying to the church.

The reason I make this suggestion is that I cannot think of any denomination in the world more in tune with the heart of the EM: a missional gospel that seeks to live out the gospel in such a way that evangelism is what the church “is” as much as what the church “says.”

This is what I want my experience to be - what I am as much as what I say.
