The first phase of the project, due to be completed by March 2006, will see citywide Wi-Fi hot spots rolled out in Birmingham, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham and Oxford, along with the London boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea, Camden and Islington. It will make travelling to Leeds and possibly London more appealing... but why not Glasgow??? Apart from a castle, what does Edinburgh have that warrants wi-fi more that Glasgow doesn't have?
Possibly one thing Edinburgh has that Glasgow doesn't is nutters who are prepared to pay £4.50 per hour for access to the Cloud's services... It is £1.50 cheaper than BT Open Zone but... OMGoodness, that's steep. Hopefully there is some sort of cheaper daily/monthly payment?
Anyway... Link to the Cloud: The Cloud and Link to the CNET article: CNET

Did a hot-spot search of city centre Glasgow and discovered the Horseshoe Bar has wi-fi. No disrespect to the Horseshoe Bar but that would be the last place on earth I would have imagined there was wi-fi... Its not the sort of place where you'd pull out your iBook for a stroll down the information superhighway - Its a bit traditional for that.
